About the Liberty Bells
USO's Very Own Liberty Bells
The USO has always been proud to entertain our armed forces across the country and around the world. The Liberty Bells are part of the US tradition that goes back more than 65 years to its beginnings in the muddy camp shows of the South Pacific. Some of the greatest American music ever written and performed emerged during World War II. The excitement and patriotism of those years ignited a generation and gave birth to an era of unforgettable harmony, rhythm and orchestration.
The Liberty Bells Pride
Today, the pride and passion that fueled that early music lives on through the USO Liberty Bells, charming and gifted performers who dazzle and delight audiences. Their four-part harmonies, solo performances, dancingand array of patriotic costumes bring cheering audiences to their feet. The group is made up of talented and dedicated Broadway and off-Broadway performers who are chosen in a competitive audition process. Their performances feature WWII era hit songs such as Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Don't Sit Under the Apple Tree, I'll Be Seeing You, and Thanks for the Memories, as well as the current patriotic hits of today. Their rousing rendition of the National Anthem lifts spirits and stirs hearts with every performance. One member of the Liberty Bells also serves as Miss USO. She is a roving ambassador of goodwill, appearing throughout the year at deployment and homecoming ceremonies, veteran’s hospitals, aboard ships and at military installations as well as at numerous corporate and fundraising events.
